I Want my XTC continues with my favorite XTC song again. Yesterday, I posted all about the Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead. Well, one of my favorite covers of all time is of that song. Where is it from? It’s from the soundtrack of a movie that I hate with an undying passion- Dumb & Dumber. But from that Jim Carrey/ Jeff Daniels disasterpiece came a great XTC cover. It was done by the Crash Test Dummies and it featured vocals by Ellen Reid, instead of Brad Roberts. So instead of a CTD song with that deep deep voice, you get Ellen’s wonderful voice (no hate to Brad but I prefer hers) and it makes for a great XTC cover. Much better than Sarah Maclachlan fumbling through “Dear God”.

You can check out Song 184 “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead” by Crash Test Dummies in the clip section of the CTD website: http://www.crashtestdummies.com/

I Want my XTC continues with my favorite XTC song. Somewhere an XTC fan just had a heart attack. Why? Because my favorite XTC song isn’t “Dear God”. The song is a classic and it’s my #2 XTC song but my heart belongs to a tale of another tale of religion. Religion, political intrigue, scandal, and what happens when a good man just wants to be good in a world full of all the bad stuff. Poignant and well-written, my favorite XTC song is Song 183- “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead” by XTC. Tomorrow, Peter rears his Pumpkinhead again.

“I Want My XTC” continues with Andy Partridge beating up a tree. Yes, it’s XTC’s biggest hit ever. It’s the song that got covered by Sarah McLachlan. It’s the song with the wacky video with the people in the trees. It’s the song with some of the most powerful lyrics ever. It’s Song 182- “Dear God” by XTC.

Seeing as I’ve been very busy as of late, a theme will be helpful to stay on track. So for the next 5 days or so, it’s XTC time! I’m going to start off with a Colin Moulding song. He’s the XTC bassist and sometimes lead singer. His voice lends itself well to the catchier songs. And no XTC song is catchier than Song 181- “Making Plans For Nigel” by XTC.

Work never ever ends. I’ve been wanting to do another dig or something of the like but I’ve been super busy as I have said previously. But one thing that I have done to relax has been watching Blood Ties. Who would’ve thought I’d watch a show on Lifetime? But it’s not a Valerie Bertinelli/Delta Burke drama. It’s very unlike most of the Lifetime thoroughfaire (with the exception of “Missing” which ended last year). It’s the story of a detective who is going blind, teaming up with a 500 year old Vampire to solve paranormal crimes. Yes, this is Lifetime. If Sci-fi can show WWE programming, Lifetime can show a vampire cop show. Check it out sometime as it can be quite enjoyable. Plus, how could you not love a girl who uses a swagger stick? Enjoy this Blood Ties fan video featuring Song 179- “Animal I Have Become” by Three Days Grace. Three episodes in and there is already fan videos. I think that’s a record.

Another busy day with moving stuff leads to a short post at almost 11PM. Hmmm. In packing, I went through all my CD’s. Here’s a song I stumbled upon that I enjoy but haven’t heard in an eon. Song 178- “Come Dig Me Out” by Kelly Osbourne. I don’t understand all the haters who disliked her rock album. It wasn’t Ozzy but it had punch which is more than I can say for a lot of bands.
