Day two of the theme of bass players and I think each day I’m going to post a song that you can look at in a different light. For instance, take the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Flea is one of the best bassists in rock as he seamlessly brings his funk influences into the RHCP sound. But as a bassist, you can get lost in the shuffle. So I want everyone to take some time to focus on bass work. In the song “Snow”, it’s easy to miss Flea’s contributions. Anthony Kiedis has a great measured performance. John Frusciante’s guitar work on this song is phenomenal. With those performances along with Chad Smith’s consistently good work, Flea could be lost in the mix. But take a good listen, focusing on Flea’s work and you’ll see how John Frusciante’s guitar wouldn’t be as amazing without it.
