The new theme is inspired by something I brought up in the old theme. This theme is called musical WTF’s where I am going to look at five things in music that make my head hurt as I wonder What the Fuck. It was inspired by yesterday’s stream of conscious where I mentioned the band Tinted Windows.

Tinted Windows, WTF??

Tinted Windows is a supergroup. How this motley crew of 4 came together beats the hell out of me. First you have the amazing James Iha. He’s best known for his work in Smashing Pumpkins as well as a stint in A Perfect Circle. Then you’ve got Adam Schlesinger who is the bassist of Fountains of Wayne. He is also an Academy Award and Tony Award nominated songwriter. I especially like his work on the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack. Then there’s drummer Bun E. Carlos from the band that started me down the road to being a musician, Cheap Trick. The first sheet music that I ever bought was Cheap Trick’s Lap of Luxury. So, this all sounds like it would be a band that I would be into. I’m a long time fan of Iha and Carlos and I like Schlesinger’s songwriting and production work. The WTF comes when you look at the lead singer, Taylor Hanson. Hanson is the leader singer of the band of the same name, who are best known for the song “MMM Bop”. Now, I had to give them the benefit of the doubt because 1) I like the rest of the band and 2) Taylor Hanson is 25 years old now. This isn’t the same girlie-looking little boy that he was in 1997. But then I heard the first song “Kind of a Girl” and it’s pop drivel. Don’t get me wrong. I listen to pop music. I was raised on Casey’s Top 40 and it’ll always be a facet of my listening in some way shape or form. But “Kind of a Girl” is way too poppy. It’s got no depth. Even Hanson (the band) has created deeper stuff than this. This is…this is…WTF?!?

So here’s some Cheap Trick instead.

It’s the last day of my five day stream of conscious theme. I’m going to miss it because it’s a no-brainer and when you’re having a tough week you need it. Plus it gets some hits in this direction. All I need is to have a theme about naked women and juggalos and I’d be all set. But alas, it’s the end of stream of conscious.

My chincilla, who is running around me as I type, is named Rocket. Rocket is a song by Smashing Pumpkins. James Iha is part of the supergroup(?) Tinted Windows. Windows Vista is an operating system. System of a Down have a song called B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bombs). The Powerbomb was the finisher of wrestler Sid Vicious. Sid Vicious was the singer of the Sex Pistols. Madonna had a dirty photo book called Sex. Courtney Love starred in the People versus Larry Flynt. And that leads me to…

After yesterday’s bad day, I hope to do a good stream of consciousness to make up for it.

I’m currently watching America’s Best Dance Crew. ABDC was once won by the Jabbawockeez. The Jabbawockeez appeared in a Gatorade commercial with Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett used to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves. UFC champ Brock Lesnar fights out of Minnesota. UFC champ Anderson Silva is known as Spider. Spider Jerusalem is a character made by Warren Ellis. Warren was one of “The Trio” on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Slayer made the song “Seasons in the Abyss”. Abyss is a wrestler for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. “I Want Action” was an early single from Poison. Bret Michaels is yet to find his Rock of Love. According to U2, love is blindness. Blind singer Robert Bradley leads up the Blackwater Surprise. Surprise is the name of a city in Arizona, Nebraska and Indiana. Arizona is the Copper state. Throwing Copper is an album by Live which featured:

My craziest theme continues but I’m not in a mood to play along. I had a bad day at work, so I’m going to do a post without the stream of conscious or any type of special information. What I need right now is just a good song that I can sit back and enjoy. So here is a song that I have enjoyed for many years. I was a big Aerosmith fan growing up and when this song came out, I was so happy. It was just the ballsy rush that I expect from them.

Day 3 of me doing wacky thoughts in a row until I find a song. Hmmm. Where do I start? There’s an ad on the table for “House of the Dead: Overkill”. Overkill was a band that included Bobby Blitz. Blitz is a football video game. My favorite football team is the Oakland Raiders. Paul Revere and the Raiders sang the song “Kicks”. “Voltron Kicks” is a song by Ghettosocks. Socks was the cat of Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton appeared on the Arsenio Hall show. Arsenio starred in a TV show with Sammo Hung. Hung Up is a song by Madonna. Madonna screwed Vanilla Ice in her Sex book. Vanilla Fudge does a killer version of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy”. I’m too sexy for your party. Too sexy for your party. No way I’m disco dancing. The Bee Gees were the kings of the disco era. And that leads me to…

It’s day 2 of the wackiest theme to exist in 10kdays, the stream of conscious.

I was just playing scrabble online and it accidentally played the word ER for me when I didn’t want it to. So now I’m pissed. So I’m going to start off my stream of conscious this way:

Scrabble is making me wanna scream. Scream is a movie starring Liev Schreiber as Cotton Weary. The cotton gin was created by Eli Whitney. Whitney Houston was in the movie The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner. Costner was in Waterworld with Tina Majorino. Majorino played Mac on Veronica Mars. Veronica and Betty are the female leads in the Archie comics. Archie Bunker’s Place was a spinoff of All in the family. “Family” is one of my favorite songs by the Rolling Stones. One of the most famous Rolling Stones covers featured a naked set of Red Hot Chili Peppers and I think I’ll write about one of their songs. Here’s the one where Anthony Kiedis and Dave Navarro make out:

It’s time for the return of the stream of conscious theme, here at 10kdays. Here’s how it works, I start off with a word and then it makes me think of something and…y’know what, it’s easier to do then explain. So I need a starting point. My wife is playing a word game, I just choose whatever word she gets next…

The word is Toe. Toe Jam is a song by the BPA featuring David Bryne and Dizzee Rascal. Dizzee Rascal did a great version of a Ting Tings song on the live lounge. Another great live lounge cover is Love Lockdown by White Lies. Lockdown is the name of the all steel cage pay per view by TNA wrestling. Nicolas Cage once played Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider is a song by Henry Rollins on the Crow soundtrack. One of the Crow sequels starred David Boreanaz and Tara Reid. David Boreanaz stars in the TV show Bones. Bones is the nickname of Henry McCoy in Star Wars. I got a Henry McCoy Pez dispenser last Christmas. Last Christmas is a hit by Wham. Wham-o is a company that makes Slip & Slides. Slip is one of the Cousins in the Katamari Damacy series. Katamari Damacy is an anagram for “I Am A Tacky Drama”. Dramarama had the hit song “Last Cigarette”. Cigarette smoking is blasted in commercials by “The Truth”. “The Truth” was a song by the band, The Tami Show. Tami was the name of one of the women on the Real World: Los Angeles. “It is 5AM and you are listening to Los Angeles” is a line from a song from Soul Coughing. Koffing is the name of a Pokemon. Pokemon is a portmanteau of the words Pocket and Monster. “Le Monster” is a song by My Favorite. “My Favorite Things” is a song from The Sound of Music. Did you know that Rolf is a Nazi? Rolf is also the dog on the Muppet Show. The drummer on the Muppet Show was Animal. And that leads me (finally to…)

Song 825- “Animal” by Pearl Jam

Wow, I would’ve stopped that sooner but YouTube didn’t have videos for Suddenly Tammy or the Tami Show or My Favorite….
