You’ve heard me talk about The Crow and the Breakfast Club. If that’s all you ever knew about me (and it basically is), hearing that my #3 favorite movie behind those two is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid would probably surprise you. I’m certainly not a big western fan but I do love movies that are centered around strong relationships between people. For instance, I used to really enjoy Before Sunrise (used to). The aforementioned Breakfast Club is all about the personal relationships. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is more than just a western, it’s the ultimate buddy flick.

So where does the music come in? You have the legendary songwriter Burt Bacharach at the helm, of course you’re gonna get something good. What you get in this case is the classic “Raindrops keep falling on my head”. BJ Thomas is an interesting cat. He has an unique voice to him. Burt Bacharach knew just how to utilize that. He made a very sparse production, let it carry the song and ta-da. Add in Paul Newman and Katharine Ross and a bicycle built for one and you have a classic.
