1116

New theme. Let’s see how long I can run this theme? I call it “By the Numbers”. Each day, I am going to write about a band or song for each number in order until I can’t figure out something to write about or I just get bored.

1. That seems like an easy place to start. There are so many ways to go with this. There’s the U2 classic. There’s the Three Dog Night song and its cover by Filter. What about a band like Onerepublic? One Step Closer? One Step Beyond? Metallica’s One!!! Those are all good choices, kinda. But I’m going with At The Drive-In. “One Armed Scissor” was the first song that I had heard from the band. I first heard it on WSOU, Seton Hall’s Pirate Radio during one of their year end shows. The station is known for “the hardest rock” which usually meant metal bands but the energy captured in an At the Drive-In recording is undeniable. Who cares if the lyrics are jibberish. The musical composition is wild and unpredictable. The song is all about the feeling it brings to you.

You really can’t go wrong with any band named after a Poison lyric.
